High schools in Odessa are being recognized on the national level.
It has been announced that both Odessa High School and Permian High School made the Washington Post's list titled America's Most Challenging High Schools.
A total of 2,369 schools made the list, which amount to around 12% of all high schools in the country.
According to a release, Odessa High School is ranked at #1,555, with Permian High School at #1,929.
“The first thing this means,” said Superintendent of Schools Tom Crowe in a release, “is we are challenging our kids. And
it is very intentional.”
The rankings of the schools come from the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests taken by students at the schools divided by the number of seniors graduating.
Superintendent Crowe spoke to Tatum and Jay on CBS 7 News at 10 saying that "it's quite an opportunity and honor for both high schools to be on this list..."
